Volunteers needed: Assist with homeless services

Volunteers are needed to help staff a City warming center on the coldest nights as well as help in the field gathering annual population data.

The City will have a warming center open on nights that are 40 degrees or below, AND not already served by the pilgrimage rotating shelter.

Sign up to be put on an ongoing volunteer list at Hands On Sacramento.

Volunteer for the Sacramento Homeless Street Count event on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. Organized by Sacramento Steps Forward and Hands On Sacramento, the event will have volunteers help count the homeless and assist with volunteer registrations and logistics within 70 mapped areas throughout Sacramento County.

The Homeless Street Count helps community organizations better understand and serve the homeless population. The Count will allow organizations to develop new programs, where gaps exist, and make policy decisions on homeless issues in Sacramento.

To sign up or for more information about the annual count, please visit the event’s webpage.
