Councilmember Ashby to Participate in “A Day Without Women”

On Wednesday March 8, the City Hall Office of Councilmember Angelique Ashby will be closed in solidarity with women across the country. Councilmember Ashby will participate in the one-day event “A Day Without Women.”

We recognize that people have varying degrees of ability to participate, and that supporting women on this day will look different depending on your obligations. As public servants, the District One Team, as always, will remain available to our constituency. We will start our day at Bella Bru Café, a local female-owned small business in Natomas at 9 a.m.

If you have a job that gives you the ability to take the day off, whether that be paid or unpaid, and you want to support women-owned businesses, here are a few in District One.

  • Bella Bru Café
  • Maestro Coffeehouse
  • 9Round Fitness
  • Yogurt Garden
  • Hair Phases International
  • Massage Heights
  • Dream Dinners
  • Styled to Profession

There are a few different ways to participate in “A Day Without Women”:

  • Wear red clothing
  • Support women-owned businesses
  • Join the Legislative Women’s Caucus in Sacramento at the East Steps of the State Capitol from noon to 1 p.m.

Angelique Ashby is a mother, business owner, neighborhood leader, the sole female and senior member of the Sacramento City Council – currently serving in her second term.
