What happens when you temporarily close a city street to cars and open it up to the community?

Open Streets events are part of a global movement of transforming streets into pop-up parks and activated public spaces. Open to the community of all ages, Sacramento’s first open street event, Sunday Street, will take place on Broadway on May 21 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Whether it’s yoga on the street, bicycle demos, or street performers, the day will be filled with activities for the whole family to enjoy. Activities will be a key part of the success of the event and will include those that have a focus on health, active living, and local business support. Events may include:

  • Bike Education/Bike Repair/Helmet fitting/Helmet decorating
  • Dance Classes
  • Basketball Free Throws /Soccer Goal Kicks
  • Yoga/Strength and Conditioning

In partnership with the Greater Broadway District, the Sacramento Area Council of Governments, and other organizations, the City’s inaugural Sunday Street event will take place from Riverside Boulevard to 26th Street, down to 2nd Avenue and east to Broadway.

Don’t forget to RSVP for the Facebook event and share with your friends.

Stay tuned for more!
