Mark your calendars for Mulch Mayhem!

The Water Conservation Office is giving away free mulch and soaker hoses to all City of Sacramento Utilities customers. Tell your Sacramento City friends to bring their shovels, bags, and tarps to the Sacramento Marina at 2 Broadway, Sacramento, on May 20th, between 8 a.m. and noon! Supplies are limited, so be sure to get there early.

Why mulch?

Mulch saves water and helps to mitigate weeds. Each time you water, you’ll save 30 gallons of water for every 1,000 square feet. Mulch slows evaporation allowing water to sink into the soil, moderates soil temperature, and breaks down into nutrients for plants. Add three to four inches of mulch around trees and plants for maximum benefit!

When using the soaker hose, you can save water and simplify your garden maintenance, by saving time, money, plants, and the environment.
