Channel your creative energy by participating in Sacramento’s PARK(ing) Day!

Reimagine Sacramento on 9.16 and submit a design today

Calling all creatives! Sacramento United PARK(ing) Day returns Saturday, September 16! Celebrate unofficial “Sacramento Day” by temporarily replacing on-street parking, at Capitol Circle, with parklets designed to enhance the downtown core!

Led by the American Society of Landscape Architects, and in partnership with Downtown Sacramento Partnership, this year’s Park(ing) Day theme — Creative Capitol —will showcase the vibrant energy of the City’s creative class.

We are inviting anyone, including designers, placemakers, artists, landscape architects, architects, engineers, musicians, performers, contractors, business owners and creatives to design their parklets to showcase the region’s “Creative Capitol” — however you choose to interpret that concept. Entry forms are due Wednesday, August, 23. Submit your design today!

What is Park(ing) day?

PARK(ing) Day is a global event where citizens, artists and activists collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spaces into “PARK(ing)” spaces: temporary public places. The mission of PARK(ing) Day is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, to generate critical debate around how public space is created and allocated, and to improve the quality of urban human habitat … at least until the meter runs out!
