Some 25,000 attendees expected to attend concert Monday evening; gates open at 4 p.m.

Concert attendees and downtown workers are encouraged plan ahead as Capitol area street closures affect AM and PM commute on Monday

The rap artist Common will perform a free concert on Capitol Mall Monday, Aug. 21 to raise awareness on social justice reform. The Imagine Justice concert is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on Capitol Mall with doors opening at 4 p.m. Two road closures will begin Sunday, August 20 at 4 a.m. To help workers and concert attendees plan, please see the following schedule of road impacts.

Sunday, Aug. 20 through Tuesday, Aug 22

  • Capitol Mall between 8th and 9th Streets will be closed from 4 a.m. on Sunday. to 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
  • 9th Street between N and L Streets will be closed from 4 a.m. on Sunday to 6:30 a.m. on Monday; closed again from 9:30 a.m. Monday to 6 a.m. on Tuesday

Monday, Aug. 21 through Tuesday, Aug 22

  • Capitol Mall between 5th and 8th Street will be closed from 9:30 a.m. on Monday to 6 a.m. on Tuesday
  • 6th Street between L Street and Capitol Mall will be closed from 9:30 a.m. on Monday to 6 a.m. on Tues, August 22
  • 7th Street between L and N Streets closed from 9:30 a.m. on Monday to 6 a.m. on Tuesday
  • 8th Street between L and N Streets closed from 9:30 a.m. on Monday to 6 a.m. on Tuesday
  • 10th Street between L and N Streets closed from 2 p.m. on Monday to 6 a.m. on Tuesday
