City officially launches Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment

The City of Sacramento recently launched the new Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment Department!

Councilmember Jay Schenirer, City Officials, and representatives from the Sacramento Youth Commission, and Sacramento Youth Alliance celebrated at the Oak Park Community Center on Thursday.

The mission of the new Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment is to empower youth, strengthen neighborhoods, and provide life-enriching programs for a beautiful livable community.

The reorganization and renaming of the former Parks and Recreation Department reflects the Council-adopted focus and prioritization on supporting the City’s youth.

The renaming and reorganization of this City Department will further align the City’s youth programs under a unified vision, mission, set of values, framework, and goals dedicated to helping young people succeed.
