The City of Sacramento is excited to debut its Sacramento Utility Rate Assistance (SURA) online application. If you qualify for SURA, you can get a monthly credit on your water, sewer and garbage bill. Your total annual savings can add up to over $180 a year, depending on the services you receive.
This SURA online application is easily accessible on mobile devices as well as a laptop or desktop computer and will allow for quicker processing. Individuals applying online can easily upload their SMUD bill showing participation in the Energy Assistance Program Rate, which qualifies them for participation in the SURA program. The online application can be instantly translated into multiple languages including Spanish, Russian, Hmong and Vietnamese right from the application.
If you do not currently participate in SMUD’s Energy Assistance Program Rate, the application is still available to print and submit via mail in English, Spanish, Russian, Hmong and Vietnamese.
To be eligible for SURA, in addition to income verification requirements, customers must pay the City of Sacramento for water, sewer, and garbage service, live at the property where the services are received, and the utility bill must be in their name. Fill out the online application if you are eligible.
