This year’s BizX will gather more than 150 entrepreneurs, creatives, and small business owners on May 1, 2018, for an afternoon focused on inspirational storytelling designed to energize, motivate, and give you the tips you need to market like a boss!
John Davidson, a Sacramento State Business Administration graduate, has always been unstoppable.
At a very young age, his passion for skateboarding even landed him multiple contracts at fourteen-years old.
Prior to becoming the Head of Partnerships at GameStop, Davidson helped launch and manage an industry-leading motion graphics studio startup. He later joined The Marketing Arm, a Dallas-based company focused on integrated marketing solutions.
We recently sat down with Davidson and he offered some great advice for those aspiring to become a strategic marketing professional.
- Make complementary connections – Different skill sets and personalities can complement each other to help you accomplish more than what you can do on your own. Business people, find some creative friends!
- Develop your skill set – Even if you graduated from college, never stop learning and acquiring new skills. These skills will make you stand out and be more valuable in the job market. There’s always more to learn.
- Learn how to communicate – Communication is key, not only at the workplace, but in every aspect of life. This is something we’re losing in this digital age. As Warren Buffet said, “public speaking is the most valuable asset you can have”.
- Look for networking opportunities – LinkedIn is a great tool for connecting with professionals and leaders who inspire you. Get to know people in your industry, both inside and outside of your company — you never know what can emerge from these relationships.
