Road closures and parking restrictions for AMGEN begin Friday May 18

City encourages residents and visitors to plan ahead.

The City of Sacramento encourages motorists to plan ahead for this year’s AMGEN Tour of California bicycle race, Saturday, May 19, featuring the world’s most elite bicycle racing teams.

Multiple events are also scheduled for Saturday, May 19 including Sacramento State 2018 commencement at the Golden 1 Center, Sacramento Broadway Series at the Community Center Theater, a volleyball tournament at the Convention Center, and McGeorge School of Law graduation at Memorial Auditorium.

To help residents and event attendees plan ahead, please see the following schedule of road impacts.

Road closures begins Afternoon, Friday, May 18 to 11:59 p.m. Saturday, May 19.

Several road closures are not in effect until 4 a.m. on Saturday morning. Some adjacent roads may experience rolling closures as racers are active on the course.

  • L Street from 9th to 19h streets
  • Capitol Mall from 3rd to 10th
  • N Street from 7th to 15th
  • Q Street from 14th to 19th Street
  • 18th Street from L to Q
  • 10th Street from J to P streets
  • 11th street from N to P streets (on-street parking restricted)
  • 12th Street from N to O Streets (on-street parking restricted
  • 15th street from J to R

Plan ahead when traveling to downtown.

  • If you choose to drive, remember to reserve your spot in a City Garage or Certified Partner Garage at sacpark.org.
  • Consider taking public Transit. ZipPass is Regional Transit’s mobile fare app, making it easy to pre-purchase bus and light rail fare directly from your smart phone.
  • User a ride share sevice, like Uber or Lyft.
  • Take advantage of May is Bike Month and ride your bike.
