Sacramento just became the first city in CA to test digital license plates

Today, Mayor Darrell Steinberg and Innovation Officer Louis Stewart unveiled Digital License Plates on City vehicles through Reviver Auto. Sacramento became the first City in California to test the plates on its City fleet.

24 Chevy Bolts in the City’s fleet will be equipped with the new technology.

The RPlate is a fully functional digital license plate that can display personal messages, eliminate the need for physical registration stickers, and if a car is stolen, can tell the owner and police exactly where the car is.

The City will be testing the digital license plates to keep track of fleet vehicles more efficiently, and use the digital plates as message boards to display public service announcements, such as traffic alerts, information about City Services, and other emergency alerts.
