Today, the City launched the Smart City web page, a platform on the City’s site dedicated to the many emerging technologies and tools the City is providing its residents.
The one-stop shop provides residents easy access to news and information about 5G, Mobility, Civic Innovation, and Operations.
Sacramento has positioned itself as a leader in technology and innovation, said Natasha Greer, City IT Project Manager. “This site will highlight our efforts and continue to inform Sacramento residents on the innovative tools available to help provide services more efficiently, meet diverse community needs, and reduce resource consumption. “
The site will also be home to all things 5G. Last year, Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg joined Verizon in announcing that one of their first commercial launches of fifth-generation – or 5G – wireless residential broadband services is planned to be in Sacramento. 5G will be available in Sacramento in late 2018.
The City plays an important role and is actively working to streamline the development processes and effectively and efficiently pave the way for innovators like Verizon to implement new technologies. For more information, check out the new Smart City site.
