City’s Hot Spot program provides a safe and fun environment for youth on Friday nights

Did you know the City hosts coordinated activities for youth every Friday night? Hot Spots, a program created by the Youth, Parks & Community Enrichment Department, offers youth, ages 13 to 19, a place to engage in recreational activities, art projects, interactive games, and movie nights.

“Hot Spots give young people an opportunity to connect with their peers and adult allies in a safe and fun environment, said Lindee Lane the City’s Youth Development Policy Manager. “The Hot Spot environment encourages self-expression and links youth to mentors, opportunities and resources in their community.”

In response to a recent incident at Arden Fair mall, the City has participated in a joint effort with the Sierra Health Foundation to create pop-up youth engagement events that will be held simultaneously throughout the City this Friday evening. The City’s regularly scheduled Hot Spot at the Sam and Bonnie Pannell Center is part of the effort.

All Friday Night Hot Spots are hosted at various facilities and community centers throughout the City every Friday night from 7 to 11 p.m. The 2019 Hot Spots schedule include:
