Free Admission this Saturday to celebrate the re-opening of the Sacramento History Museum

The City celebrates the re-opening of the Sacramento History Museum with free admission this Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The reopening celebration will include games, demonstrations, storytelling, and magic tricks.

The museum closed in January to upgrade its existing floor plan and its exhibits that showcase Sacramento’s early history.

Exhibits at the Sacramento History Museum feature historical images, artifacts, and unique interactive elements. The permanent and temporary exhibitions are developed by the curatorial staff at the Center for Sacramento History.

The Sacramento History Museum, located at 101 I Street in Old Sacramento, is a reproduction of the 1854 City Hall and Waterworks building. The museum currently sits on the previous site. The original building was completed in the spring of 1854 and was the City’s first municipal structure. It housed the City Waterworks, City Offices – including the Mayor’s office and Fire Department, the City Jail, and Police Court.
