New app makes it easier for residents to know when, where, and how to dispose of garbage and recycling

When does the recycle bin go out? Is a pizza box recyclable?

Questions like these can now be answered instantly thanks to the new SacRecycle app.

The app is designed to provide quick access to information on collection schedules and proper disposal methods through the “waste wizard” feature.

“The changes in the recycle markets, concerns about contamination, and constant shifts in how different materials are managed is confusing,” said Erin Treadwell, Outreach Manager with the Recycling and Solid Waste Division.

“The SacRecycle app is a great tool to help our customers make easy and correct disposal decisions in their homes,” said Treadwell.

Customer Access

At the welcome screen of the app, customers must enter a billing address for properties that receive city services like garbage, recycling, yard waste or street sweeping. There is only one billing address for duplexes, triplexes and fourplexes. Customers in these homes can use one of the other addresses associated with the property if their home address does not appear with a schedule.

Guest Access

Residents who are not City customers can still access the waste wizard disposal information using the guest access method by clicking on the “example address” on the App welcome page, then click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom to access the “Waste Wizard”.

The app can be found at the Apple and Google stores and at
