Sacramento Poet Laureate Indigo Moor is hosting a special event called “Renegade Literati” at City Hall on Friday, Aug. 30.
The event is part of a series of celebratory evenings that have celebrated art and have brought together writers, poets, musicians and visual artists in the Sacramento area.
At the Aug. 30 event, which runs from 7-9 p.m., artists will present their work and discuss their creative process.
“What stands out in these expansive presentations is the exposure that our local artists get through channels like Renegade Literati,” Moor said. “As the series continues, I will strive for future collaborations that unite our local community through art.”
The event will feature art and conversations with:
- Gerry Pineda — Musician and educator
- Brynn Saito — Poet, writer, educator and organizer
- Lin Fei Fei — Multimedia artist
- Vanessa Hua — Author, columnist, educator
The Aug. 30 gathering is the second Renegade Literati event curated by Moor this year. The inaugural event took place in May.
The event at City Hall (915 I St.) is free and open to public. Refreshments will be served.
Born and raised near Charlotte, N.C., Moor, who lives in South Sacramento, is a multi-genre artist who has published books of poetry including “Tap-Root,” “Through the Stonecutter’s Window” and “In the Room of Thirsts & Hungers.”
