Developers, retailers and business group representatives on Oct. 3 are set to participate in an economic tour of City Council District 8, which includes the Meadowview, North Laguna and Parkway neighborhoods.
Part of the City’s inclusive economic development initiative, the tour is hosted by Councilmember Larry Carr and City of Sacramento Assistant City Manager Michael Jasso.
Running from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., the tour will highlight the area’s investment opportunities, employment anchors, established neighborhoods and recent developments.
Carr said about he and his staff organized the tour after “looking at vacant properties and wondering why they weren’t being developed.” A similar economic tour recently was hosted on Stockton Boulevard.
As Sacramento continues to grow, Meadowview, North Laguna and Parkway could be the next big thing for entrepreneurs and homebuyers, Carr said.
More than 30 people from the private sector are expected to attend the tour. Discussion will include projected population growth for the area as well as how City resources, including Measure U funds, may be used to catalyze local development.
A media availability will be offered at the Valley Hi-North Laguna Public Library (7400 Imagination Parkway) from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m.
