The County of Sacramento on May 15 opened a COVID-19 test site at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church (3996 14th Ave).
Located in Oak Park, the site is the first within city limits that will serve residents of the area with priorities for scheduling appointments going to those that live within 95817 or 95820 zip codes.
“We need to support and take care of all of our Sacramento residents, but we always need to support and start with our most vulnerable,” said Jay Schenirer, District 5 Councilmember, who represents Oak Park and other neighborhoods. “From national data we know that communities of color, poor communities are hit hardest by this horrible pandemic.”
To make an appointment, people 16 and older can call 916-628-7676, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A valid photo-ID with a date of birth is required.
The test involves a nasal-swab collection procedure that is administered by County of Sacramento Public Health staff and results will be returned by phone in three to six days.
Another test site is expected to open next week at Robertson Community Center in Sacramento (3525 Norwood Ave.)
