See why these experts are working to educate residents on the complexity of clean water

You know that getting a glass of water can be as simple as turning on your faucet. But what you might not know is how much effort goes into making that water safe to drink.

Seven experts from Sacramento Valley water agencies hope to educate residents on that effort and the complex systems that bring safe drinking water to residents in an online webinar on Oct. 21.

Hosted by the City’s Department of Utilities, the webinar is called the “Sacramento Area Water Agency Collaboration” and will cover how Sacramento must work with other agencies in the region for compliance, knowledge sharing and efficient resource usage.

“We’re excited to present this webinar because it gives us an opportunity to highlight the many intricacies involved in providing safe and affordable drinking water, wastewater and storm drainage services,” said Brian Sanders, government affairs specialist with the Department of Utilities. “Regionally, we are all a part of the same watershed, and by working together we are able to be the best stewards of our natural resources to ensure reliability.”

The webinar is part of the City’s participation in “Imagine a Day Without Water,” a national education campaign that highlights how essential water is and how much its infrastructure is in need of investment.

It will feature experts from the City’s Department of Utilities, Regional Water Authority, Citrus Heights Water District and the Sacramento County Regional Sanitation District.

People can register for the online webinar, which will last for approximately 45 minutes.

“Collaboration is important now more than ever and residents can get a front-row seat to this intricate process by tuning in with us,” Sanders said. ”
