Each year, the City of Sacramento offers free holiday parking at on-street meters, from Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day, in specific zones in the downtown and midtown area.
This year, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City has expanded the program by offering free parking at all meters in downtown and midtown to support local businesses during the holidays. Free parking is available 4:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends until Dec. 25.
“As in years past, we are excited to offer free holiday parking,” said Parking Services Manager Matt Eierman. “Since March, we’ve offered free evening parking on weekdays and all day on weekends to help alleviate some of the pressure residents and businesses are feeling during the pandemic.”
Free holiday parking applies to metered on-street parking spaces. Meter screens will reflect when parking is free and when payment will be required. All other parking violations, such as street cleaning, time zones and color zones will still be enforceable as posted.
Throughout the year, free metered parking is also offered on specific holidays.
