Hot Spot nights are back for Sacramento teens. The City is “remixing” the in-person youth program this year to make it new and improved from the Hot Spots that were offered prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We know that many of our teens are anxious to see their friends in real life,” said Jackie Beecham, Recreation Manager for the Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment. “Our staff worked hard to ‘remix’ the hot spot program into an experience teens won’t want to miss after a year of distance learning and virtual hangouts.”
Hot Spots nights, designed for for Sacramento teens 13 through 17, are free, fun and interactive events that allow young people to interact with their friends while staying close to home in a safe and supervised environment.
“It’s important for our youth to have a safe place to socialize with others and engage in positive behavior and activities in the evening,” Beecham said. “Hot Spots are the place to be!”
Last year, following the onset of the pandemic, all Hot Spots were put on pause due to the public health guidelines that restricted activities such as basketball and other sports played at the program, Beecham said.
The Hot Spot events, which run July through September, include theme nights, food trucks, sports, movie nights, giveaways and more at seven community center sites. Pre-registration is required and events will follow the latest COVID-19 protocols and guidelines.
