What transportation improvements are coming to Pocket-Greenhaven neighborhood?

The City of Sacramento is hosting a community open house to present proposed transportation improvements for the Pocket-Greenhaven neighborhood.

This in-person meeting will be held on Thursday, June 2, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge (6446 Riverside Blvd.)

“The Pocket-Greenhaven Neighborhood Transportation Plan has been a collaborative effort with the City and neighborhood residents as we continuously take in community feedback throughout all stages of the project,” said Councilmember Rick Jennings, who represents District 7.

After hearing community feedback during two previous workshops, hosting several listening sessions and sharing an online survey, the project team have identified proposed improvements to be made throughout the Pocket-Greenhaven neighborhood.

The main objectives of the proposed improvements to reduce vehicle speeds, enhance safety and comfort for people who are walking and biking, provide comfortable and convenient crosswalks and provide access to transit.

“We are excited to provide this open house to the residents of the Pocket and Greenhaven neighborhoods where they can walk around and learn about the proposed plans and have conversations with the project team” said Transportation Planner Leslie Mancebo. “After two years of virtual workshops, the ability to bring the community together in-person to address the mobility and safety needs of the neighborhood is exciting.”

Community members can register for the open house on the project website at PlanPocketGreenhaven.org.
