This workshop can help you better protect trees during the drought

The City of Sacramento’s Department of Utilities is inviting residents to attend an in-person workshop at 9 a.m. June 25  where they can learn how to keep trees healthy as drought conditions continue throughout Sacramento and the state.

The workshop will feature Alex Binck, a tree expert with the Sacramento Tree Foundation, and William Granger, a water conservation coordinator with the City of Sacramento.

“We had many trees die off during the last drought,” Granger said. “We hope workshops like these will help residents learn efficient ways to water trees and make them more resilient to dry conditions.”

Binck and Granger will explain how to properly water trees (including irrigating techniques), how to use mulch as well as explain how water conservation rebates work.

Space is limited, and people must register to attend the workshop, which takes place at the City Utilities drought-tolerant demonstration garden (1395 35th Ave.) It should last about an hour and a half.
