City of Sacramento extends operation of its warming centers through Dec. 8

The City of Sacramento has extended weather-respite operations at both its Outreach and Engagement Center and the North Fifth Street Shelter through Dec. 8, as the region faces a continued period of rain and cold temperatures.

Both locations will be open for short-term weather respite from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Walk-ups will be accepted, with the OEC (3615 Auburn Boulevard) able to accommodate up to 50 guests and the North Fifth shelter lobby (700 North Fifth St.) able to accommodate up to 20 guests. (Please note that North Fifth is for adults only and is unable to accommodate pets.)

In addition, the County of Sacramento has activated its DHA Annex (1725 28th St.) as a warming center. It is open from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Dec. 8.

The City and County will continue to monitor the National Weather Service’s forecast and extend warming-center operations as needed.
