As another storm system heads toward the Sacramento region, bringing with it more high winds and rain, the City of Sacramento’s Office of Emergency Management is encouraging residents to stay safe and be prepared by taking a few simple steps:
- Stay indoors and off the roads to the extent possible in the coming days, especially during hours of darkness.
- Call 911 for emergencies only; fallen trees and localized-flood reporting should be reported by calling 311.
- Safely secure and stow all loose items around homes and help keep public right-of-way access clear.
- If your home is damaged, immediately contact your insurance company; most policies include lodging accommodations if the home is not safe for occupation.
“We are asking the public to continue to look out for their families and neighbors and to remain indoors and off roadways as much as possible, especially during hours of darkness,” said Daniel Bowers, director of the Office of Emergency Management. “This will help keep our community safer and reduce impacts to our ongoing storm response.”
