Folsom native and former Folsom firefighter Eric Williams, now a Sacramento Fire Prevention Officer Trainee, has faced unimaginable challenges with unwavering determination and strength.
On the morning of Jan. 6, 2015, at the age of 29, he was hit by a bicyclist, which left him in a coma for several weeks. Williams suffered a brain injury and spent months in therapy.
Instead of letting this tragedy define him, Williams embarked on a remarkable journey of recovery and transformation. While he made significant progress, he was never cleared to go back to being a firefighter. So, he took on a new role in the prevention unit with Folsom Fire and later began working for the Sacramento Fire Department.
When asked what kept him going, Williams said: “This wasn’t easy, and there were many struggles, but a lot of it was my determination and will to continue to strive for the best. Part of my success is to be there for my family as we go through our journeys.”
