Learn how to keep your trees healthy this summer at this June 24 workshop

Editor’s Note: As of 1:30 p.m. June 13, the workshop has reached its capacity. People can add their names to the waitlist or email volunteers@sactree.org with questions.

City Department of Utilities staff are inviting residents to attend an in-person workshop at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 24, where they can learn how to keep trees healthy.

The free workshop will feature Pam Sanchez, education programs manager with the Sacramento Tree Foundation, and Evan Waters, a water conservation specialist with the Department of Utilities.

According to the Sacramento Tree Foundation, even with the winter rains, summers are hot and dry, and tips are useful every year for water savings and happy trees.

Sanchez and Waters will explain how to properly water trees, how to use mulch, and explain how water conservation rebates work.

Space is limited, and people must register to attend the workshop, which takes place at the City Utilities main campus (1391 35th Ave.) It should last about an hour and a half.
