The City of Sacramento is inviting community members to help paint a new mural on Florin Road from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16.
The event will be located outside of Food Max at 3680 Florin Road. This free, family-friendly event will feature local vendors and food trucks as well as art engagement and games for youth and their families.
“This is a unique opportunity for community members to help bring art to their neighborhood,” said the City’s Office of Arts and Culture Program Coordinator April Breis. “Bring your family and friends to help us celebrate Florin Road by painting the new mural.”
The mural is a paint-by-number design so that all community members can participate in painting, and the artists Henry “Fisko” Fisk, Jose Lott, Judah Pimentel, Markos Egure, Mia Davis and Unity Lewis will be on site. All supplies will be provided.
The first 400 attendees will receive a free BBQ hot dog and chips. The first 100 attendees will receive a free small, shaved ice.
The event will also feature live music.
The beautification project is funded with a $1.2 million CalTrans Clean California grant. The project will improve a stretch of Florin Road from Tamoshanter Way to Franklin Boulevard through public art, beautification efforts, public outreach and youth engagement.
