City of Sacramento to activate weather-respite center Nov. 17-19

With the National Weather Service forecasting extended rain this weekend, the City of Sacramento is activating weather-respite operations at its Outreach and Engagement Center (3615 Auburn Blvd.).

The OEC will provide weather respite from 5 p.m. Friday (Nov. 17) to 7 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 19).

Walk-ups will be accepted, with the OEC able to accommodate up to 50 guests as part of its weather-respite activation. The center has storage available for personal belongings if needed and will accept pets.

Sacramento Regional Transit will provide free rides to and from the center. (See flyer below.)

To ride free, screenshot or print the flyer and present it to the bus operator upon boarding, or show light rail fare inspection staff upon request.

The City will continue to monitor the National Weather Service’s forecast and extend weather-respite operations as needed.

The OEC plays a key role in providing safe respite to unsheltered residents and others during both winter and summer months.
