Sacramento hospitality industry invited to attend upcoming ‘Safe Night Out’ training

The City of Sacramento Office of Nighttime Economy is partnering with local nonprofit crisis intervention center WEAVE to offer “Safe Night Out” training for hospitality businesses from 3 to 5 p.m. on Feb. 22.

The training will be held at 300 Richards Blvd., room 221. RSVPs are encouraged. Email Madeline Ng at mng@weaveinc.org to RSVP or if you have any additional questions.

Safe Night Out is a WEAVE prevention program that offers a series of training classes for hospitality staff on how to recognize warning signs of sexual and domestic violence and how to respond to keep establishments and patrons safe.

This free, two-hour training and certification program educates bar and restaurant staff on sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, and bystander intervention.

“Safeguarding our city’s nightlife is crucial for a thriving Sacramento,” said the City’s Nighttime Economy Manager Tina Lee-Vogt. “This program is part of the City’s continuous efforts, ensuring a secure, lively, and well-coordinated nightlife experience that contributes significantly to the city’s economy, culture, and identity.”

There will be additional Safe Night Out trainings on different topics throughout the year.

The City also hosts quarterly trainings to provide information to help nighttime businesses operate safely. Training and information are provided by Code Compliance, Sacramento Police and Sacramento Fire staff.
