Apply now: Paid youth summer positions open for Landscape & Learning program

Online applications are now being accepted for the summer season of Landscape & Learning, a City youth workforce development program.

Run by the City’s Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment (YPCE) Department, the seasonal program is open to youth aged 14-17 residing within the City limits.

Youth selected for the program will engage in six-hour workdays, Monday through Friday. Under the guidance of adult supervisors, participants will contribute to park maintenance activities across various City parks.

“The primary objective of the L&L program is to provide young individuals access to positive opportunities and foster a capable workforce within the region,” said Kris Wimberly, the City’s recreation superintendent for youth workforce development. “The program offers technical trainings that allow youth to develop essential employment and leadership skills.”

Tasks assigned to Youth Aides include general weeding, trimming, leaf removal, and trash disposal, among other responsibilities for park upkeep.

The program will run from June 17 through Aug. 9 with compensation set at $16.00 per hour.

Those interested must submit their applications before the deadline of Monday, April 8 at 11:59 pm. Late submissions will not be considered.
