The community is invited to learn about the potential uses for the City-owned 102-Acre Site in South Sacramento, including a community information session on Aug.14.
This round of outreach includes providing information at community events, engaging with youth, reaching community members online through a virtual community workshop, presenting to community groups, and holding an open house information session open to all.
Following the purchase of the site from the federal government in 2022, City staff studied, shared and, earlier this year, presented the site’s development opportunities and constraints to City Council. City staff, guided by community input, identified key desires for the site, including inclusive economic development, community amenities, affordable housing and support for unhoused neighbors.
Now City staff is sharing these findings with the broader community and gathering input to be considered by City Council as they make the first policy decision about how the site will be used.
“Our goal is to educate and inform residents about the site’s history, context, and potential planning and development processes, so we can encourage more relevant input and sustained engagement throughout the multi-year process,” said City Associate Planner, Alexi Wordell.
