Upcoming Naloxone training provides education and safety resources for nightlife establishments

The City of Sacramento’s Office of Nighttime Economy is partnering with the Sacramento County Opioid Coalition to offer free Naloxone training for hospitality and nighttime staff from 3-4 p.m. on Thursday, April 23.

The training will be held at 300 Richards Blvd., room 221, with free parking available.

RSVPs are required by emailing nighttime@cityofsacramento.org.

The Naloxone training will equip staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and respond to opioid overdoses, including how to administer Narcan (Naloxone).

This training will introduce the BarCan Program, an initiative designed to promote collaboration among bars, venues, and the Sacramento County Opioid Coalition. The goal of this partnership is to create safer environments that help prevent overdoses and save lives.

“Partnerships like this are essential for building a safer nighttime environment,” said the City’s Nighttime Economy Manager Tina Lee-Vogt. “These efforts empower both staff and patrons with the knowledge and confidence to take action, which could ultimately save lives.”

Attendees will also receive a complimentary Narcan kit, a CPR face shield and additional resources, provided by the Sacramento County Opioid Coalition.

The City offers various training sessions to provide hospitality and nighttime businesses with information and resources to support safe and successful operations. More information about upcoming trainings is available on the City’s website.
