As part of ongoing efforts to calm traffic and reduce speeding on Fruitridge Road, the City of Sacramento is developing updated design plans and gathering community input on the next phase of transportation improvements through an upcoming community workshop.
The in-person meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 23, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Earl Warren Elementary School (5420 Lowell St.). A brief presentation will begin at 6 p.m., followed by an interactive exhibition.
The Fruitridge Road Improvements Project will improve the pavement quality, calm traffic, and provide more comfortable and safe ways for residents and families to travel by foot, bike, bus or car.
The project was originally planned between Power Inn Road and 65th Street Expressway but has since been expanded with a “Phase 2” component that extends west to Stockton Boulevard.
“This project will help calm traffic congestion and improve safety on Fruitridge, providing benefits to the community and travelers on the road,” said Stephanie Saiz, assistant engineer with the City’s Department of Public Works.
Building on input from the August 2023 workshop, this meeting will provide updates on Phase I improvements (Stockton Boulevard to the 65th Street Expressway) of the project and introduce proposed Phase II enhancements that the City has been evaluating. Phase II extends from Stockton Boulevard to the 65th Street Expressway.
Community members will have the opportunity to provide feedback on Phase I updates and Phase II improvements via informational exhibits, and the construction timeline will be discussed.
Proposed upgrades include pavement repairs, dedicated bike lanes, rebuilt curb ramps, improved signal systems, and various enhancements to establish a safer and more efficient corridor for everyone.
Community members can register for the community workshop and sign up for email updates on the City’s website. To register directly for the upcoming workshop visit bit.ly/fruitridgeworkshop.
