Sacramento unveils redesigned transparency page to boost access to City data and services

Sacramento residents now have a clearer window into their local government operations with the launch of a newly redesigned transparency webpage, a one-stop hub to explore how tax dollars are spent, track program performance, and access key government data in an easy-to-use format. The enhanced platform demonstrates the City’s commitment to open government and accountability.

“Sacramento residents deserve clear, accessible information about how their tax dollars are spent and the results they deliver,” said Interim City Manager Leyne Milstein. “This new transparency platform is a major step forward in making our city government more open, responsive and accountable to the community by organizing the most popular transparency tools available on one page.”

What’s new?

The redesigned Transparency webpage includes several new datasets and interactive tools designed to give residents a deeper understanding of City operations:

  • Open Data on City Contracts: A new dataset that provides details on all active and past City contracts, including contractor names and amounts.
  • City Elections Data: A comprehensive inventory of City Council candidate races and ballot measures dating back to 1921.
  • Vision Zero Crash Dashboard: Interactive map and dashboard to view attributes and factors that contributed to crashes.

These tools offer residents regularly updated financial and operational data, increasing access to information about City decision-making and services.

The launch of the updated platform comes as the City faces a $44.1 million budget deficit for the Fiscal Year 2025/26. In a period of fiscal constraint, transparency remains a key component of ensuring public funds are used efficiently and in line with community priorities.

The updated site also reflects ongoing efforts to make local government data more accessible and understandable to the public. Residents can access the redesigned Transparency webpage to explore City financial data, obtain public records, and use interactive tools to learn more about City operations.
