City launches dashboard to track operational performance

The City of Sacramento launched a new Key Performance Indicators (KPI) Dashboard to accompany the proposed budget for fiscal Year 2025/26. As the City navigates a challenging budget year, it remains committed to helping residents understand how well City operations and core services are performing.

This work comes at a time of hard choices. The City’s proposed budget, released last week, includes reductions in expenditures and the elimination of some programs in response to a $66.2 million projected deficit.

“Even in a constrained budget year, we are focused on showing the public how we’re using our limited resources to respond to needs, maintain quality of life, and deliver results that matter,” said Interim City Manager Leyne Milstein.

KPIs are annual measures that give residents a broad view of how the City is performing in critical service areas, from public safety and customer service to neighborhood livability and environmental health.

The dashboard organizes KPIs into five resident-centered categories. Each measure includes a brief description to help residents understand what it measures and why it matters on the glossary page.

According to Ash Roughani, Special Projects Manager, “Over time, our KPIs will mature and evolve. We’ll refine how we measure impact and align more closely with strategic goals.”
