Plans to extend the Two Rivers Trail are continuing, and the City is inviting the community to review and provide comment on the recently released Draft Subsequent Environmental Impact Report (SEIR).
The proposed extension would add approximately one mile of new trail within Sutter’s Landing Park, starting at 28th Street and heading west. The new segment would loop around the Old City Landfill, just east of the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) tracks.
The project would also connect to the Sacramento Northern Trail west of UPRR, provide on-street bikeways along Basler Street and Sproule Avenue, and join the existing cycle track at North 12th Street and Sunbeam Avenue.
Future phases would include an overcrossing of the railroad tracks and an underpass beneath the State Route 160 bridges, ultimately connecting to the existing Two Rivers Trail.
The City selected the preferred alignment using input from public outreach meetings and surveys held in fall 2024. A Notice of Preparation meeting was held this spring and the Draft SEIR and its appendices are now available for public review through Sept. 15.
“This next phase of the Two Rivers Trail is a vital step toward improving regional connectivity on our trails,” said Adam Randolph, project manager and senior engineer with the City’s Department of Public Works. “We’ve worked closely with the community to get this alignment right, and we look forward to hearing more feedback during the public comment period.”
A copy of the Draft SEIR is available for in-person review at the City’s Community Development Department, 300 Richards Blvd., third floor, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. (excluding holidays). It can also be accessed online on the City’s website.
A public meeting will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 6-7 p.m. To join, visit: https://cityofsacramento-org.zoom.us/j/84117909326.
