The City of Sacramento Water Conservation team is inviting residents to learn ways to transform their yards into water-saving landscapes Sept. 26 at the Water Wise Garden Showcase.
The free event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Department of Utilities main campus (1395 35th Ave.).
“This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to save water and money,” said William Granger, the City’s water conservation coordinator. “Whether you’re planning a complete landscape makeover or just looking for a few ideas, you’ll leave with inspiration and practical advice you can use.”
The event will bring together local landscaping, irrigation, gardening and water conservation experts to answer questions and share tips for creating and maintaining beautiful, water-efficient landscapes.
People can also sign up for guided tours of the City’s water-efficient garden and attend an educational talk from Marlene Simon, also known as “Marlene the Plant Lady”.

“One of the best things about this event is having so many local experts in one place,” Granger said. “Residents can bring their questions, talk directly with professionals and learn what might work best for their own yard.”
Attendees can also enter into a raffle for prizes including gift cards, plants and free landscape design consultations.
