Passage of Adult Use Marijuana Act – Proposition 64

Passage of Adult Use Marijuana Act – Proposition 64

With the passage of Proposition 64, state law now allows adults 21 years of age and older to possess and use marijuana, and cultivate up to 6 marijuana plants in their own home for personal use. However, in California, it is prohibited to smoke marijuana in any public place. In addition, adults can only purchase marijuana in a licensed medical dispensary in Sacramento if they have a valid medical marijuana recommendation from a doctor.

The City of Sacramento intends to enforce these restrictions and will likely develop further regulations on the cultivation, processing, and sale of non-medical marijuana.   The Sacramento Bee has published an informative guide on Proposition 64.
