Dispose of used tires for free at these ‘tire amnesty’ events

The City of Sacramento, in partnership with the Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps, is holding a pair of tire amnesty events in June. Sacramento residents can drop off up to eight used tires, which will then be recycled.

The events will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 15 and June 29 at Sutter’s Landing Park (200 28th St., Sacramento).

“Tires are common in illegally dumped piles, partly because they are difficult get rid of,” said Jerome Council, Integrated Waste Manager for the City of Sacramento. “This is a great opportunity for residents to properly recycle unwanted tires. “

Guidelines for drop off:

  • The drop off is free
  • Only rubber tires, with no rims
  • A maximum of eight tires will be permitted per vehicle
