Sacramento native LeVar Burton returned to his hometown Tuesday to have a park in Meadowview named after him. The City Council also honored him with a resolution stating that June 11 was LeVar Burton Day.
Burton, of course, is the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning host of children’s educational program “Reading Rainbow,” star of “Roots” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and former resident of South Sacramento.
