With the Shop 916 gift card, spending local can be right at your fingertips.
The electronic gift card, launched by the City in December, is a program that supports local storefront retailers negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Shop 916 gift card can be used at any participating business within the city.
With the success of the initial launch, the City will have a limited-time promotional offer for the Shop 916 gift card: Buy a gift card and get a bonus gift card for free.
“Spring break, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and graduations are all coming up, and the Shop 916 gift card makes the perfect gift,” said Valerie Mamone-Werder, the City’s project development manager responsible for the program. “We encourage everyone to take advantage while the promo offer is available. You can buy a gift card for someone else and keep the bonus gift card, or just keep it all to yourself!”
The promotional offer features:
- Buy a $25 gift card and get a $10 bonus gift card for free
- Buy a $50 gift card and get a $25 bonus gift card for free
- Buy a $100 gift card and get a $50 bonus gift card for free
This promotional offer is available until June 30 and the bonus gift cards must be used by July 17.
Bonus cards are limited to five per purchaser. Regular consumer-purchased gift cards do not expire. Gift cards are purchased through the City’s website at shop916local.com.
“The Shop916 Gift Card Program has brought in customers from all over the city to Koshi Ramen Bar, which has helped us widen our outreach and community everyday,” said Koshi Ramen Bar owner Debbie Cun. “It’s been a great way to get to know more of the people in Sacramento as well as help boost our business. We are thankful for this program.”
A total combined value of more than $110,000 of gift and bonus cards were spent in the city of Sacramento during the previous two-month promotional program. Nearly 100 Sacramento small businesses signed up to participate in the Shop 916 local gift card program, and new businesses are signing up daily.
All local storefront retailers located in the city can participate. The program is open to all businesses within the city of Sacramento that have 500 or fewer full-time equivalent employees, with the exception of home-based businesses, franchises, liquor-only stores and cannabis businesses.
