Young people wanting to gain work experience with the City this summer are invited to attend the Virtual Youth Resource & Employment Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 2.
This annual event features opportunities for stipend-based programs and seasonal employment internships through the Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment (YPCE) Department.
“We’re so proud to offer a wide range of paid positions and stipend programming for young people in our communities,” said Kris Wimberly, recreation superintendent for youth workforce development “With these positions, youth are able to develop and grow personal and professional skills that translate to all aspects of their life.”
The virtual fair also includes sessions on job-skill development and information on careers with the City’s Information Technology Department.
Councilmember Mai Vang will serve as a keynote speaker share on the importance of youth involvement in City programs.
“Our city must continue to prioritize our youth by ensuring we have quality programs and equitable resources citywide,” Councilmember Vang said. “We cannot be a city for young people if we do not invest in them now. I am honored to join so many of our Sacramento youth this weekend to share my story — along with the numerous opportunities available in the city to help our youth reach their full potential. Together, we can build a better Sacramento for our youth who are leading us both today and tomorrow.”
