City of Sacramento activates weather-respite centers through Feb. 17

The City of Sacramento is activating weather-respite operations at its Outreach and Engagement Center and the North Fifth Street Shelter lobby through Friday morning (Feb. 17) as the region faces a period of cold nighttime temperatures.

Both locations will be open for short-term weather respite from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Walk-ups will be accepted, with the OEC (3615 Auburn Blvd.) able to accommodate up to 50 guests and the North Fifth shelter lobby (700 North Fifth St.) able to accommodate up to 20 guests. (Please note that North Fifth is for adults only and is unable to accommodate pets.)

Sacramento Regional Transit is providing free rides to and from local weather-respite centers (see flyer below).

The City will continue to monitor the National Weather Service’s forecast and extend weather-respite operations as needed.
