City of Sacramento activates weather-respite centers through March 29

The City of Sacramento is activating weather-respite operations at its Outreach and Engagement Center and the North Fifth Street Shelter lobby through Wednesday morning (March 29), as the region faces a period of rainy weather.

Starting at 8 p.m. tonight (March 27), the Outreach and Engagement Center will be open 24 hours for weather respite and the North Fifth Street Shelter lobby will be open 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Walk-ups will be accepted at both locations, with the OEC (3615 Auburn Blvd.) able to accommodate up to 50 guests and the North Fifth shelter lobby (700 North Fifth St.) able to accommodate up to 20 guests. (Please note that North Fifth is for adults only and is unable to accommodate pets.)

Sacramento Regional Transit is providing free rides to and from local weather-respite centers. (See below.)

The City will continue to monitor the National Weather Service’s forecast and extend weather-respite operations as needed.
