Sign up young athletes for fall soccer camps

Registration remains open for fall soccer camps offered through the City’s Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment. Programs for children ages 2 to 5 are underway at Marriott Park and North Natomas Community Park and run through Oct. 24. The camps introduce young players to soccer through age-appropriate skills, games and activities.

Register for the CAPBIO Summit at Aggie Square

Registration is open for the inaugural CAPBIO Summit, taking place Sept. 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Aggie Square. The one-day event will bring together biotech and life sciences employers, researchers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, educators and workforce organizations to discuss industry growth, career development and opportunities to strengthen Sacramento’s biotech economy.

Learn about the small business permitting process

Sacramento entrepreneurs and prospective business owners can register for a free permitting workshop Sept. 16 from 3-5 p.m. at 300 Richards Blvd. Attendees will learn about building permits, planning requirements, inspections, accessibility compliance and other approvals that may affect opening, relocating or expanding a business. Advance registration is required.

Learn about accessible housing and home repair resources

Sacramento residents can register for a free webinar Sept. 17 from 5-6 p.m. about accessible housing options, home repair programs and resources that support independent living and aging in place. Hosted by the City, AARP California and Rebuilding Together Sacramento, the webinar will cover the City’s Universal Design Ordinance, AARP HomeFit resources and available home repair and accessibility assistance.

Volunteer to refresh McKinley Park Playground

Residents are invited to help refresh the McKinley Park Playground Sept. 19 and 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will help with landscaping, spreading woodchips, cleaning the sand play area, preparing play equipment and painting. No special experience is required, and volunteers can participate for one or both days.

Apply for Stockton Boulevard project grants

The City is accepting applications for approximately $80,000 in grants to support community-led projects along Stockton Boulevard. Applicants may request between $5,000 and $20,000 for projects that benefit people and businesses within the Stockton Boulevard Plan area. Applications are due Oct. 2 at 4 p.m.
