Notable industry leaders will discuss what it means to be innovative and creative in today’s fast-moving world at May 2’s BizX, the annual business and networking event held in Sacramento.
Hosted by the City of Sacramento’s Office of Innovation and Economic Development and Sacramento County, BizX brings together a community of thought leaders, entrepreneurs and creative minds to help businesses keep moving forward, said City Program Development Manager Lorrie Clark.
“We are extremely excited about this year’s lineup of speakers,” Clark said. “We have industry leaders from across the region coming together to discuss important topics that will help Sacramento businesses stay informed, current and competitive.”
The in-person event, which runs from 3-6 p.m., will take place at The Urban Hive (1007 7th St.). Those interested in attending can register for $10 here.
The speaker presentation will be followed by a networking reception with a set from DJ Rock Bottom.

Topic: “Innovation Throughout the Industries” – A fireside-chat-style discussion in which speakers share their insights about the innovation they see through different industries, exploring what it means to be creative and imaginative in today’s world.

Topic: “Overcoming Adversity” – Sharing his stories of overcoming obstacles and challenges on the road to success and offering tips for others looking to do the same.
Cheri Chastain, Director, Public Affairs & Sustainability for Somers West Development
Topic: “Sustainable Communities” – Sharing the vision of building a sustainable community from scratch, with a focus on creating a holistic town ecosystem that benefits residents, businesses and the environment.
Stephen Walton, Community Developer & Investor
Topic: “Breaking the Mold” – Breaking away from conventional thinking and pursuing your own path to success.
Louis Stewart, Head of Strategic Initiatives at NVIDIA
Topic: “The Future of Innovation” – Offering a vision of what the future might hold in a specific field or industry, and how innovation can help us get there.
