Holiday Parking

Free holiday parking in downtown, midtown and Old Sacramento starts Nov. 24

This holiday season, the City of Sacramento once again will adjust parking meter operating hours in specific areas to encourage residents and visitors to dine, shop, and attend events in Old Sacramento, downtown and midtown.

From Nov. 24 to Dec. 24, no payment will be required at select on-street meters after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends within the holiday parking zone. This includes green meter payment machines.

The holiday parking zone is bordered by Front Street to the west, I Street to the north, 29th Street to the east and L Street or Capitol Avenue to the south.

The free parking applies only to meter payments. Meter screens will reflect when parking is free and when payment will be required.

All other parking violations, such as street cleaning, time zones and color zones will still be enforceable as posted.

All meters in the city are also free all day on approved holidays, including Thanksgiving (Nov. 23) and Christmas (Dec. 25).
