City crews continue work to address tree service requests

City of Sacramento crews are continuing to respond to downed trees across the city after Sunday night’s wind-and-rain storm. Staff are addressing approximately 500 requests for service regarding downed branches and trees in parks, on roads and homes.

“People may still see streets with partial blockages as crews continue their work,” said Gabby Miller, media and communications specialist for the City. “Staff are staging wood and debris in parking areas to be picked up at a later date to continue addressing all requests as quickly as possible.”

Of the 500 requests, 88 trees were reported down. This number includes limbs and whole trees.

Park Maintenance staff from the Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment continue to perform general clean-up of debris across parks. This includes 38 emergency tree incidents with fallen trees and broken limbs.

Staff will also work to address amenity damage at various parks including shade structures and playgrounds.

People are encouraged to call 3-1-1 to report storm-related issues.

Officials continue to ask residents to place as much debris as possible in their organic waste recycling bins and to avoid placing any piles in the bike lane. A household junk appointment can also be scheduled for excess yard waste.

A list of frequently asked questions is available on the City’s website for people to help determine what to do if a tree or branch is affecting their property.
