Join City staff April 6 for clean-up events ahead of Earth Day

Looking to get an early start on Earth Day activities? Join City of Sacramento staff April 6 for clean-up and beautification events citywide.

The events will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and are open to individuals or groups. In addition to trash pick-up at all sites, volunteers can assist with painting, planting, and other landscaping tasks at several sites.

“We’re excited to join the community at these events to make a difference ahead of Earth Day,” said the City’s Sustainability Analyst Sarah Kolarik. “Our green spaces will benefit greatly from all who participate.”

The events will be at the below locations:

  • Magnolia Park (251 Greg Thatch Circle) for planting and other landscaping work
  • Arcade Creek in Del Paso Regional Park (Longview Drive) for trash pick-up
  • Niños Parkway Grassland (at Edmonton Drive) for weeding and mulching
  • Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way) for landscaping work
  • Miller Regional Park (2701 Marina View Drive) for trash pick-up
  • Argonaut Park (1402 Dickson St.) for painting
  • Artivio Guerrero Park (6000 61st St.) for planting
  • Danny Nunn Park (6920 Power Inn Road) for painting
  • Bill Conlin Sports Complex (7895 Freeport Blvd.) for planting
  • Silva Field (7511 24th St.) for painting

Those interested in volunteering can sign up on the City’s website. After signing up, detailed instructions with exact meeting locations will be provided.

Volunteers should wear sunscreen and appropriate work clothing, as well as bring their own water bottle. Tools for painting, landscaping work, and removing litter will be provided. Individuals are welcome to bring their own trash grabbers and work gloves if they have them.

In addition to the day of cleanups, multiple City departments are participating at an Earth Day event organized by the Environmental Council of Sacramento on April 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The City’s Office of Climate Action and Sustainability will be present at an informational booth and collaborative community painting activity, led by local artist Taner Pasamehmetoglu.
